CSGD News

Rob Littlepage, director of the CSGD, will be at the Sacramento Home & Landscape Expo again next year.  The dates for the Expo are January 29 - 31, 2010, and is located in the Cal Expo Fairgrounds.  Stop by and say hi!  We will once again offer a Show discount for the spring courses to anyone who signs up after seeing us at the Show.

We are pleased to announce that the CSGD and the Flower Farm Inn, a lovely bed-and-breakfast Inn, have set up a special accommodation rate just for students attending the School. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to reside in a historic Victorian home set in it's own beautiful grounds which includes established flowers and trees, a koi pond, vegetable garden and a gorgeous plant nursery right next door. A stay at the Inn includes a full breakfast served in their charming dining room, as well as use of a parlour and game room all decorated in Victorian antiques. Two rooms have been set aside for students - the Forget-me-not Room, and the Wild Poppy Room (see pictures on this page). Both are located upstairs.

The normal rate to stay at the Flower Farm Inn is $150 a night, but for students of the CSGD, the rate is $70 a night, comparable to the rates offered at our local economy motels. And a delicious home-cooked breakfast is included! Students also have the opportunity to explore the grounds and study the plantings, as well as familiarize themselves with all the plants in the Flower Farm Nursery right next door. The Inn is located in Loomis.

To guarantee one of the rooms will be available to you, it is necessary to contact the Inn well in advance of the start of classes. Contact information is included here, and you can also find it on our Accommodations page. You can also click on the link to the Flower Farm Inn, to see more photos and read about the Inn.
